IGOR KOVLOVSKY & MARINA SHARPOVA

TOGETHER IN TENSION

"If you would only know

That rubbish from which,

Without feeling any shame,

My poetry is growing…"

Anna Akhmatova

Working together, the interplay of emotion and creativity has allowed Igor and Marina to grow, change, and see the world differently – as it does in any relationship. But when two great artists play off each other, the aches and pains, the arguments and joys all seem worth it. The wonder of their artistic process is that they never know what will be the next inspiration.

STEVE MITTS

A CONTEMPORARY "OLD MASTER"

Steve's work combines two of his loves, painting and woodworking. The work explores the mixing of mediums, uniting the two in a multitude of forms and textures. His paintings have always explored the themes of the Renaissance, a time period he has studied most of his career. The subject matter consists of musicians, or individuals finding a place of solitude to read or write or contemplate their surroundings. These were common themes of the Renaissance period, and reside in his paintings today.

OCTOBER COVER IMAGE

We chose Ray Swirsky's painting, "Game Night" for the October cover because it reminds us that in the autumn months going into winter it is always great to curl up in front of the fire and who wouldn’t want to play chess with these beautiful dogs. It is a lovely painting which captures not only the mood of fall but also a sense of playfulness and warmth.
